A collaborative project for the cookbook Kombuistaal by Vickie de Beer, designed to empower children and parents to make healthy, research-based nutritional choices.

My illustrations serve as a visual bridge between science and storytelling, bringing a playful, hand-painted energy to the pages. The work complements a collection of brand-new poems by Antjie Krog, creating an engaging, educational experience that makes wholesome food approachable and fun for the whole family.

Michael Olivier, well known restauranteur and Sommelier with a lifetime devoted to the promotion and appreciation of the South African wine and food industry has earned  many accolades, including the Lannice Snyman Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2013 Eat Out Awards.

Michael and Roelien agreed to go in a partnership on Friends. Food. Flavour., and including the recipes of friends, the book was born. The dishes are eclectic with Roelien’s superb illustrations and Mike Robinson’s sensitive photography.

Cariema Isaacs is an author of two cookbooks full of recipes of Cape Malay dishes. The recipes in her books are those that were cooked and enjoyed together by her community throughout her childhood. She grew up in Bo-Kaap (the Cape Malay Quarter in Cape Town) She lends insight into the culture, religious ceremonies and family events that have shaped the Cape Malay community into what it is today.

This project for Cariema was to create a brand identity consisting of a logo and identity illustrations for a range of products.
